After three weeks of solid sessions, Silverbacks chairman Jody Freeman gives us his thoughts on the heartening pre-season thus far.
"It has been really humbling to see players old and new come out. Players who stuck by us, players who appreciate the work we've done over the past eighteen months, players who love the new ground and the new look. They've turned up in large numbers and with great commitment, which we really appreciate."
"We have put a lot of effort into our structured sessions and players have really responded. Nigel Wright's experience has been invaluable and we've worked to make all the sessions accessible to players of all skill levels.
"I've been at training at 6pm and the number of players turning up to do extra, using the conditioning equipment we've bought makes it all look like time and money well-spent."
"Personally, one of the best things is seeing old friends and team-mates from lots of different eras come to support our new team. After years of trying to coax a few out of retirement, I've finally managed to get them out on the paddock and they're looking fantastic. They still have it, they always had it. We just needed to get something which all these guys could buy into. I really think we've found it and I'm so pleased with how everything has gone so far."
"I'm really looking forward to seeing how we get on against Sussex Merlins next weekend. There's a lot of new stuff we've been working on and if we can do some of that on the field, I'll be very happy."
The Silverbacks start their pre-season programme on Saturday 4th March at 2:30pm against Sussex Merlins. The club is proudly hosted by Club Langley, Hawksbrook Lane, Beckenham, BR3 3SR.
